Jumping is a great metaphor for the act of moving from one place to another quickly.
We work at a job but we want to start a business so we jump.
We own a business but we want to grow or expand it so we jump.
There’s a goal to be achieved, so as David Lee Roth sang in the Van Halen hit, “Might as well jump!”
So we step back, pump up our courage, take aim, and fly…
Preparation doesn’t mean it’s always easy or guarantee success.
Sometimes we fail. Sometimes in front of an audience.
Sometimes it’s painful.
Sometimes we land on our face.
And sometimes we come close to success, but it eludes our grip.
Then one day, after failing over and over again.
We do something amazing!
And we realize, if we take it one small jump at a time, we can get the reward we were after all along.
From then on, we make it look easy (especially in slow motion).
Hopefully that success encourages someone else to start jumping, too.
Are you ready to jump? Better yet, are you ready to fly?
